I'm currently 565 pages into a first draft of what I hope will be my first novel.

In a former incarnation as a journalist I worked for local national magazines and newspapers in Tokyo (Mainichi Daily News; Tokyo Journal) and Cambodia (The Cambodia Daily). I've done some freelance writing for The New York Times, Time Out New York, Gizmodo, Gawker, The Awl, and Splitsider.

I also created, published, edited and generated 90% of the content for two print publications, as I am a masochist; they didn't work out, but they burned brightly while they lived.

The second magazine, Hausfrau, was anchored by a serialized photo-comic, which makes it unique in the history of American magazine publishing.

I write advertising copy to pay the bills, and I also take pictures, sometimes for publications you may have heard of.

I graduated from U.C. Santa Cruz with a degree in comparative literature.

I live in Brooklyn with a superb Irish wife and 2 superb cats.
